These kits easily allow you to add 8 LEDs in a Bargraph arrangement, or you can use the without LEDs as a normal I/O expander.
Each of the eight LEDs supplied in the kit can be independently controlled. You can choose the LED colours when ordering. If you don't see the colours that you would like, just send a message and we'll make them for you.
The LEDs go from one side of the module to the other, right up to the board edges, so you can stack many modules side-by-side to make long chains of LED Bargraphs.
The PCF8574 uses standard available Arduino software libraries and communicates over I2C bus. You can set the PCF8574 I2C address (using the 3 jumpers supplied) to any of 8 addresses. This lets you have up to 8 PCF8574 devices on a single I2C bus. There are input and output connectors at the sides of the PCB for easy daisy-chaining of multiple devices.
The PCB measures just 30mm x 22.4mm, with 3 handy fixing holes.
Each kit comes with the PCB, all components, assembly instructions, PCB layout diagram, schematic diagram, and examples of Arduino software to drive the LEDs. There are 3 full kits supplied in your purchase.
To keep the module conveniently small for your projects, the PCF8574 is surface mount, and you can choose if you would like this already soldered in place or if you would like to fit it yourself.
